Later during the winter cold will make you realise the advantages of a climate controled enviroment 24 hours of the day 7 days a week so everything is predictable always, its 24 hours so moulds and equipment and all materials are at a constant temprature and problems never seem to happen because of it. it determins the catalyst ratio you should be using and govens the gel time and the cure time of whats happening and is changing every hour of the day like it or not !! There some basic things that should become instinct such as weather ,temprature and humidity !, these are things few people take to much notice of but affect what you do every hour of ever day. I have a guy working with me and even after 6 months still cant get it right simply because its just a job and has little to no interest in what hes doing !!. A chopper operater has to be an artist, he is in total control of what is Happenng, he can make of break a product so its really good or really bad !!. Personally i would forget the chopper gun for a while and concentrate on doing hand lay up till you get to recegnise what the differant weights of glass look like while you are using them so later when you do start spraying you can instantly tell if you have a even layer all over your mould. Study and understand all the materials you will have to work with !!.keep them to the nessesities of what you will need every day cleaners wax's glass, resins, and gelcoats etc etc I could write a whole book and give to you but you have to do the ground work first. then move on from there, when things turn to crap and they will at some point theres always a reason so you need to be able to back peddle and understand what you did wrong and move on from there. Just get a good grounding and learn the basics of what works and what dosent ! what you can do and what you shouldnt do. glassing is an interesting field to be in ,i started 1972 and still enjoy the challenge everyday and the thing of seeing a new finished boat getting launched, its like watching a baby being born. Ok chopper gun have you ever used one ? :?: ĭo you have a air system in the factory already ? theres installation methods you need if you are piping your factory Big pipes and lines also act as aqumulators and give capacity to the system. I always set up a 1/2 airline to the gun and then use a tee fitting on the machine to runn other smaller things such as grinders and spray guns etc etc saves having to have airlines running all over the factory !1/2 lines means also 1/2 fittings all round dont fit a smaller coupler any where in that line !! restriction causes hi speed air and temp drop and ice build up Always us a compressor thas much bigger than you think you need. If the climate is cold where you are ice build ups in the line and where the air exits the pump and the chopper motor can be a major problem!! Dry air solves part of this Compresser required anything bigger than 25 cu ft per minute and run a 1/2 air line to the gun from the wall !! the bigger the line the less problems you will have when running any kind of air equipment also water trap make sure you use a reaiiy good water trap. Chopperguns !What are you reallylooking for ? what are you going to use it for ? Theres a range of guns availible under differant brand names.
